TBI Team Room & Meal Policies

Greetings TBI Team Members!

Below are answers to frequently asked questions regarding accommodations and meals during Team training sessions. My name is Laura Johnson. I am the person who makes your hotel reservations, arranges meals, and helps with check-in on each morning of the training. I can be contacted by email through the TBI Team member section of this website.

District Responsibilities

For TBI Team members who qualify, the district or employing organization pays for a substitute teacher (if needed), and mileage to travel to and from the TBI training.

Meals

The TBI Team cannot reimburse for the cost of meals during travel to or from the session.

  • Before the training starts, continental breakfast will be available at the hotel.
  • Lunch and afternoon snack are provided during the session.

After the first day of training, the TBI Team will host a dinner for Team members.

  • Team members who attend will have their meal paid for. We cannot reimburse for the cost of dinner elsewhere.
  • The Team must pay for this meal on one check.
  • I will make a reservation under “TBI Team” for the number of Team members who RSVP’d for the first day of the training; we will take a final count of who will be attending during the training.
  • Please sign-in with the host when you arrive at the restaurant.
  • If you bring a friend or spouse to dinner you will need to have separate checks.
    • The number of entrees on our bill needs to equal the number of people on the sign-in list.

I will try to reserve an entire section of the restaurant for the Team dinner.

  • If we are seated throughout the restaurant, please tell your server if you are a TBI Team member.
    • I will let the host know ahead of time where the check needs to go.

Rooms

If you are a TBI Team member and must travel a distance to get to the training, please RSVP as soon as you know you will be attending.
The Team has a history of ‘selling-out’ mid-sized hotels; please book early.

  • If you are booked for two nights but do not show up for the first, the hotel will cancel your reservation and charge us for the first night.
  • Please let me know if your plans change; I can generally cancel a room until the day before the session.

Once I reserve the room block for the team, I will send each member their room confirmation number.

  • Please reply when you receive your confirmation email.
  • If it is the week before the session and you haven’t received a confirmation code – please call me to make sure that your room is reserved.
  • Within a day of the training, please call my cell phone if you have questions or need directions.

Thank You,

Laura Johnson

Coaches play a critical role in reducing the risks associated with concussion in young athletes. The athletic concussion training program (ACTive) is based on the the recommendations of leading sports concussion experts. A clinical trial funded by NIH showed that coaches who view the ACTive program have significantly greater knowledge of concussion symptoms and have increased confidence in making decisions about concussion management.
